DMR - Brandmeister and TGIF on the same hotspot

NOTE: I’m not responsible, do a backup of your existing configuration, blah, blah, yada, yada, etc., etc.
But geez - Being able to jump from a Brandmeister talk group into a TGIF talk group without changing your server? Yes - It’s possible. It requires some fairly easy tweaks and numbering of TGIF groups that are basically unique to the system.

Late January 2021 — Bridgecom Systems posted a video (linked below) that shows you how, along with the “show notes” (also below) containing the data that needs to be pasted into your pi-star hotspot. If you configured your hotspot yourself, this is a piece o’ cake and modifying these settings will only take a few minutes if you know your way around the dashboard / configuration / expert panels. If you have a pre-configured hotspot (such as the SkyBridge) and you’re not too handy with it otherwise, just make sure you have a backup of your current configuration (again, on the dashboard) before you do anything.

The “show notes” are the meat and potatoes here and pretty much has all the info you need. The video is a bonus and can actually be a bit confusing at times. But it’s worth scanning through as it gives you a visual representation as to what you’re doing.

The video was a “live cast” and not edited down to the main points. So, there’s some meandering and double-speak here and there - especially when explaining how to access TGIF talkgroups - Things like “Add a 5" and then a few minutes later "Add a 5-0" and then again "Add 5-0-0" but long story short, all your TGIF TG #s need to be 7 digits, starting with a 5.  Brandmeister IL 3117 is TGIF 5003117, etc.  And when you add TGIF TGs to your TG list, I'd highly suggest calling them "TGIF (whatever)" so they're all in a "TGIF cluster" when you're adding them to channels .  And as usual, I'd always suggest adding a 4000 disconnect (TGIF 5004000) to every DMR zone in your plug.

https://youtu.be/bAGGWskNPG8 -- Again - not the bible here. But if you haven’t done this sort of hotspot modifications before, it’s certainly worth watching.

Special thanks to Bridgecom Systems for putting this video together and N6KRJ for helping make sense out of it (pretty sure he had this info up before Bridgecom actually).

Oh - and if you haven’t yet found a frequency for your hotspot, you might try this HANDY CHART of HOTSPOT FREQUENCIES (applies to USA)

This site really doesn’t keep much of anything. Certainly nothing that we collect or sell. Heck - We had to double the complexity just to add this fancy box to tell you that there’s nothing fancy here.
